Rachel Barnard is the majority owner and founder of Midway Capital Research & Management. She formed the company in 2008 and serves as its portfolio manager and managing partner. Before founding Midway Capital, Dr. Barnard served as Associate Director of Equity Research at Morningstar, Inc., overseeing a team of 20 equity analysts. Before joining Morningstar, she was a management consultant with McKinsey & Company, primarily advising financial services companies.
Barnard holds a Ph.D. in linguistics from the University of Chicago where her dissertation in speech acoustics was awarded distinction. She holds a bachelor's with honors and distinction in Latin from Duke University. Barnard has taught securities analysis courses at the University of Chicago's Graham School and investing seminars at Chautauqua Institution. She has been quoted in various media, including Barron's, The Wall Street Journal, American Banker, and USA Today and has made numerous appearances on CNBC.
Todd Schrade is an equity analyst and Vice President of Finance with Midway. Prior to joining Midway, Mr. Schrade was a product development manager at Morningstar, where he launched the firm's pension database, tracking the portfolios and performance of over $5 trillion in institutional assets. Previously, he was an auditor with Miller Cooper & Co., auditing companies with revenues ranging from $10 million to $300 million. Mr. Schrade holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in German, and a Bachelor of Business Administration degree in Finance from The University of Iowa and he is a Certified Public Accountant.
